Texarkana, AR opening cooling centers

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) – Texarkana, Arkansas has open two cooling centers to help people fight the heat.

One is The Senior Center at 600 East 43rd Street, and the other is the Miller County Senior Adult Center at 1007 Jefferson. Both will open their doors from 8am to 4pm.

Staff at the two sites say they plan to provide the service until the heat wave is over.

TEXARKANA (KSLA) – On a normal day, crowds of people stand under trees around Randy Sam's Outreach Shelter in Texarkana, but the past few days have been far from normal.

 “Man, outside it is terrible, that heat outside, it's terrible," said shelter resident Freddie Miles, who is homeless.
