Mardi Gras coming to downtown Texarkana, AR

Come February 9, downtown Texarkana, AR will be awash in purple and gold for their Front Street Texarkana Mardi Gras Festival, Parade and Street Dance.

Texarkana, AR Marketing Director Charlotte Hartwell says the event is free and there will not be an entry fee for vendors and parade participants.

Work begins on new Texarkana dog park

The physical work of building a dog part at Jefferson Park has begun. Work crews and backhoes descended on the park Tuesday morning and started the digging and tree removal needed to give dogs across Texarkana a place to call their own.

Dance studio hosts benefit for Texarkana Humane Society

The All Rhythm Dance Alley is hosting its fourth fund raiser to benefit the Texarkana Humane Society at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Liberty Eylau High School.

Though admission is free, organizers will accept donations of pet items or monetary gifts.

Texarkana community continues to lead "Bark for Your Park" contest

The Texarkana community is getting closer to winning $100,000 to build a dog park.

The Texarkana animal group is currently in first place in the national “Bark for Your Park” contest. Contest organizers announced that they are now offering opportunities for cities to earn extra votes by participating in a quiz each Friday. Cities can also submit videos.
