Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank continues to search for volunteers to help with the upcoming 2014 Hunger Study. The food bank needs folks to help interview hundreds of people in need throughout Bowie County and the southwest corner of Arkansas.

Texas High secures spot in state swimming championships

The Texas University Interscholastic League announced the qualifiers for their upcoming 2013 Class 4A Swimming and Diving Championships to be held on February 22 and 23 at the Jamail University of Texas Aquatic Center, and the Texas High Tigersharks look to be well represented for the task of pursuing their first State Championship in several years.

Heat or Eat? Texarkana food bank raises dilemma many face

Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, is worried that millions of low-income families are choosing between heat and hunger this winter season. The Energy Information Administration, which tracks and analyzes energy data, has projected1 that households will spend 19 percent more on average for heating oil and 15 percent more for natural gas from Oct. 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.

Next Green Texarkana recycling event set for Feb. 9

The City of Texarkana, Arkansas' Green Texarkana initiative has resulted in the collection of 7.3 tons of recyclable materials. That's more than during any month in 2012.

Now Green Texarkana announces a new recycling event, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the parking lot at Third and Hazel streets.
