Texarkana College to host cut-a-thon for missing children

In observance of National Missing Children’s Day, the Texarkana College Cosmetology will join with other cosmetology schools nationwide to raise money for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Men’s haircut will cost $7. Ladies’ haircut & style will cost $12 and All Proceeds will be donated to NCMEC.

The cut-a-thon will be held on from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Texarkana College Cosmetology, 1401 Richmond Rd, Texarkan, Texas.

The aroma of gourmet food and wine will join the sounds of 8T’s starting at 6 p.m. at the historic Silvermoon on Broad on Friday, April 5 as Harvest Texarkana presents its annual Wine and Jazz Benefit. The event is being presented by Red Road Winery, Ledwell Machinery, and Dr Ly and Aaron Gaylor.

This year’s Draw Down benefiting HandsOn Texarkana will be a Hawaiian Luau on March 28, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Collins Building at 1915 Olive Street.  Great time for all with good food, fun band, silent auction and of course, hula dance lessons and limbo dancing. 

Draw Down tickets are $100 which includes a delicious dinner for two - chicken, steak and shrimp shish-ka-bobs with Hawaiian trimmings and desserts.  Draw Down prizes include the big $3,000 award, $100 and $500 prizes throughout the evening.

World's best bullriders headed to Texarkana, Ark.

The world’s top bull riders and bulls are headed to Four States Fair Arena on Friday March 29 for the Professional Bull Riders Cooper Tires “Mike White” Invitational Presented by Bowie County Equipment & New Holland.

Tickets, at $15, have been on sale since Feb. 20 at the following locations: Jody’s Flowers (903-667-4321), Vintaj Cowgirl (903-219-1154), Baskins (430-200-2769), and Four States Box Office. The gate at the Four States Fair Arena will be open for ticket purchases from 9 a.m. on March 29 until the tickets are sold out.

Annual Feinstein donation to Harvest Texarkana to be matched

For the 16th consecutive year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide using it to help them raise funds this March and April.

Harvest Texarkana plans to participate in the challenge in order to raise much needed funds.  Funds raised from this challenge will go to help support the Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank with daily operations to serve more than 100 agencies in 9 Southwest Arkansas Counties and Bowie County, Texas.

THS student council takes 25th consecutive District title

There’s not many organizations that can tout earning a District title for 25 consecutive years, but there are not many organizations like the Texas High School Student Council.

During the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) District 19 Spring Forum held in Ore City, the THS Student Council was named a District Sweepstakes winner, for the 25th year in a row.
