Texarkana, AR and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are offering ecological ways to dispose of all that after-Christmas trash and live Christmas Trees.

The city is hosting its monthly recycling program Green Texarkana from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on January 12 in the parking lot at Third and Hazel Streets.

Wrapping paper, plastic ribbons, gift boxes, holiday cards, cardboard and cookie tins, along with any other similar items, will be accepted.

As for live Christmas trees, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has several locations where the trees can be taken to. The trees make good habitats for fish such as crappie and bass. These drop off points will not accept artificial Christmas trees.

  • Millwood Lake - Cottonshed, White Cliffs Recreation Areas and the Millwood State Park ramp on the point
  • Dierks Lake - Jefferson Ridge South Recreation Area
  • DeQueen Lake - Any Corps of Engineers boat ramp
  • Gillham Lake - Any Corps of Engineers boat ramp
  • Magnolia - Columbia County Road Dept Yard on Highway 371
  • El Dorado - City recycling center drop-offs: one behind Arby’s and one on South Jackson
