Texarkana, TX parks dept.: New Splash Pad Park closed for improvements

The City of Texarkana, Texas Parks & Recreation Department has advised that improvements to the Splash Pad Park area will be made during the week of June 10, which will require closing of the Splash Pad.

Officials say an overwhelming response to the new Rotary Splash Pad at Spring Lake Park has caused some unexpected mud issues around Splash Pad.

Spring Lake Park receives Lone Star Legacy Park designation

Texarkana's Spring Lake Park joins four other Texas parks to be honored with designation as Lone Star Legacy Park by the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) in a ceremony at the association’s annual institute in Lubbock on Wednesday, March 6.

Keep Texarkana Beautiful to hold tree giveaway

To encourage citizen commitment to a “Cleaner, Greener, More Beautiful Texarkana”, Keep Texarkana Beautiful (KTB) will hold a tree give-away beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, on the grounds of First Baptist Church, Moores Lane.

Texarkana Parks Department hosts 21st Fishing Derby

The Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its 21st annual Fishing Derby on Thursday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 22nd, at Spring Lake Park.

Activities on Thursday are from 8 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. and activities on Friday will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at approximately 1 p.m.

Next Green Texarkana recycling event set for Feb. 9

The City of Texarkana, Arkansas' Green Texarkana initiative has resulted in the collection of 7.3 tons of recyclable materials. That's more than during any month in 2012.

Now Green Texarkana announces a new recycling event, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the parking lot at Third and Hazel streets.

I-30 in Texarkana, TX to get new landscaping

The Texas Department of Transportation will do some landscaping along parts if I-30 in Texarkana, addressing concerns that the current landscaping does not give travelers and visitors a good impression of the city.
