Bowie Co. man charged with copper theft | Crime

A Bowie County man is in jail after police say he stole copper tubing from a building.
Just before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, Texarkana, TX police got a call about something suspicious happening at a vacant building in the 1100 block of Main St. When officers got there, they found a man walking down the street who had just come from the roof of the building. The man was detained while officers went to check the roof of the building.
On the roof, officers said they found an air conditioning coil that looked like it had just been removed from an air conditioning unit. When they searched the suspect, they found tools that could be used to remove the coil.
Police arrested 33-year-old Dennis William Allen, Jr. of New Boston for theft of copper, which is a felony, and unlawful use of criminal instruments. He was taken to the Bi-State Justice Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
