Christmas home tour to benefit New Boston charity

Three New Boston homes decorated to show off the beauty and spirit of Christmas will open their doors to visitors to help a local charity.

The "Homes for the Holidays" tour is set for Saturday, December 8 from 5 - 8 p.m. The money raised will help the New Boston United Fund.

The tour will feature the gracious homes of Kyle and Brandy Davis, Mitch and Mindy Newton, and Charles and Donna Watson, all of New Boston.

The lovely homes will be bedecked with Christmas glory; their festive splendor sure to spark Christmas spirit in one and all!

The homes may be visited in any order on the evening of the tour.  A $5.00 ticket gives admission to all three homes and a tour map is provided with each ticket.  Tickets must be shown at the door of each home.

Tickets may be purchased on the night of the tour at the door of each tour home or at the United Fund booth at the T & P Trailhead Park Pavilion in downtown New Boston.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the New Boston Chamber of Commerce at 100 North Center Street in New Boston, from a member of the United Fund Board of Directors, or from a charitable organization receiving support from the United Fund.

The “Homes for the Holidays” tour is a crucial source of financial support for the United Fund in the current fiscal year.  The Fund suffered the loss of a major contributor in 2012 and must work extra hard to make up the difference.

Community charities and service organizations counting on the United Fund for significant support are Manna Kitchen, the New Boston Volunteer Fire Department, Samaritan House, the New Boston Public Library, and the local American Red Cross.

Local young people receiving benefits from United Fund support include those participating in New Boston Youth Programs, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and the 4-H Club, and those receiving assistance from Bowie County Child Protective Services.

United Fund Board Members selling “Homes for the Holidays” tickets are Dr. Jeff Atkinson, Billy Fox Branson, Kelley Branson, Jetty Duffer, Carole Ehler, Carol Ensey, Wanda Looney, Sherry Mayo, Dr. Jane Morris, Rosalie Oliver, Susan Roberts, Wilma Rose, Joyce Sevier, Glen Watkins, and Sylvia Williams.
