The Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter is looking for volunteers to help with its community Thanksgiving meal. It will be served at 11 a.m. on November 22 at 402 Oak St. in Texarkana, TX.
The shelter would like volunteers to assist in serving the meals or by bringing them food anytime between now and Thanksgiving morning. Food item needed include hams, side dishes, rolls and deserts. The foods can be cooked or uncooked. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
The Shelter anticipates approximately 225 people will come to eat on the holiday.
“For many, this is the only way they will be able to eat a traditional holiday meal. It is our goal to give them a warm meal and a happy holiday on Thanksgiving,” said Jennifer Laurent, Shelter executive director.
The Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter is an emergency shelter for adult men and women. It is the only completely free, 86-bed facility in an 85-mile-radius. In 2011 the Shelter provided more than 26,000 services to members of our community. Thus far in 2012 the Shelter has provided approximately 31,000 services.
For more information or to volunteer to help during the meal please contact Randy Sams’ at jenniferlaurent@cableone.net or call 903-792-7024.
